Croft head/Townhouse

Postby Cheeks10 » Tue 27 Jul, 2010 10:03 pm

Hi all,

I have just joined Tod angling. I have never fished any of their waters before.

I quite like the look of Croft head and Townhouse.

Can anyone please tell me best tactics/baits/pegs etc?

I like to fish the waggler and pole normally down the margins for carp/tench.

Is this the best water for this?

hi cheeks

welcome aboard.

croft has bigger fish in than townhouse, meat and pellet best baits at the moment margins are best for the bigger fish there are 26 pegs on croft best pegs 1-25-18-11-20 -22.deep in places..tactics pole or waggler
townhouse 24 pegs use meat or caster and paste fish a bit smaller than croft with plenty of silvers if the carp dont feed best pegs 12-21-5-17-22-8-..tactics pole or waggler use feeder for peg 12 stuffed full of stockie carp...
there is some quality fish in both waters..
please read your licence for rules and litter before fishing and check for matches as there is some matches on there but one water is always free...good luck..

Brilliant thanks for that!

Is croft deeper than 6ft in the margins?

Probably looking to fish meat/pellet on pole with 16's elastic. What do the carp go upto in Croft?

at croft in the margins is around 1ft to 3ft ..

carp go up to around 18lb with the odd one bigger there are a lot around 10lb ish also some big tench but hard to catch...16,s elastic fine but use 0.18 mainline or higher as they do fight ...if taking photo,s of the carp please use a mat to protect the fish if you dont have one use your landing net and get some one to help you...also you will probally hook in to some bream in the margins they are around 3lb to 5lb...

Be warned, I fished Croft last week, peg 18 down the left hand margin and hooked what I can only assume was a submarine. Fished with an 18's elastic on a margin pole and whatever it was took the elastic to its limit and straigtened a size 14.

I think a better tactic for this sort of peg would be a 20' rod and reel.

Cheers for the info guys!

Cant wait to have a bash! Will be couple of weeks yet though unfortunately :-(

Submarine... I may have to get that 20's elastic in then! ha I hate losing fish without seeing them.

What else you catch then? What baits you use?

I was thinking of feeding pellet and change between Luncheon meat/Pellet/Worm and Corn as hookbait.
