New Mill Dam
Situated in a very pretty and quiet setting about 2 miles South-East of Todmorden.
Todmorden Angling Society has leased this water since the early 1940s and it was our only stillwater for a long time. Being in the line of a watercourse siltation has been a worsening problem over the years.
In 1998 we decided to do something about it and we obtained a lottery grant for over £98,000 and removed all the silt from the backside of the dam. The cheque for the grant was presented to the Society on September 15th 1999. Additional fishing pegs were built at the same time including two disabled pegs right beside the access gate. A floating island exists to provide shelter from predatory birds.
