A grant of £5,000 has just been agreed by Community Foundation For Calderdale to replace fish stocks lost to the River Calder during the floods of Boxing Day 2015 (see our Gallery for pictures). This will help they club improve the fishing on the sections that were affected by the floods and fish loss, the club are very grateful to the CFFC for their help and funds, they do some great work throughout the community so make sure you check their website and Facebook page out. The canal is not only a great asset to the angling club but also the whole community that can enjoy its surrounding whether it’s walking, boating, bird watching or fishing the canal supports many pastimes for many people.

These fish will arrive during the winter months Jan-March follow this page and our Facebook page for updates.

Fish on order are Roach, Bream, Carp and Tench.

The fish are for locks 15-16 (Finney's), 16-17 (Gasworks/Woodhouse) and 17-18 (Sandholme/Derdale).

Jan 4th 2018 stocking

Fish were stocked as follows;- Finneys and Gasworks/Woodhouse (Lock 15 -17) 412lb Roach(6”-8”) 50 Tench (8”-10”) 39lb of Bream A few Carp. Sandholme/Derdale/Bakehouse (Lock 17 - 18) 335lb Roach (6”-8”) 100lb Carp (8oz to 1.5lb) 40lb Bream. The future of Rochdale Canal is looking bright !!
